What you see – Lumiere, the organic restaurant near Panampilly Nagar in Cochin is housed in an old-fashioned building with bamboo windows. There is an essence of things natural even in the building’s make. Step inside and you come across a series of posters evangelizing the goodness of organic food, wheat grass and fish. Music plays in the background at this air-conditioned restaurant. Climb up and you will enter their exclusive Seafood Restaurant, open only for dinner. Ironically, an aquarium gives you company at this seafood section.
What you get – Lumiere is a restaurant that boasts of providing organic dishes at an affordable price. We are told that all the ingredients used here are organically cultivated without the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. These come from their eco-farms like the one at Kanthalloore in Munnar.
You can start with soups and salads followed by some finger food. Options are interesting with names like avocado soup. Other drinks include the organic Lumiere’s wheat grass juice, green tea and more. Appetizers here include onion fritters, garlic mussels and seafood orley to name a few. For your main course you can choose from the vegetarian thali meals (Rs. 65), fish curry meals (Rs. 90) or seafood special thali meals (Rs. 190). You can also order additional side dishes from the assorted menu of chicken dishes and fish fries. Desserts are available here.
Their seafood specialty section has a range of fresh catch of pearl spot or karimeen, seer fish, snapper, mullet, tiger prawn, halibut and pomfret. You are charged according to the weight of the fish that you choose to get cooked.

Our verdict – Lumiere is the only restaurant in the city that offers purely organic food. So it’s a healthy and delicious option for you to try. Vegetarian thalis and sea food are a must-have. Besides, banquet facility is available for you to organize small parties or official meetings. Home delivery is also on offer. Parking facility is available for six cars at a time.
